WELCOME TO CANA PRE SCHOOL
Cana Pre School is located in Swetes Village, in a separate facility inside the church compound. We have been operational
for 17+ years, and our children range from ages 2 to 4 years.
Here at Cana Moravian Pre School, we work in colaboration
with you the parent, to give your child the foundation he or she needs to succeed academically and socially.
Our program is a balance of academics,
biblical doctrine, and social integration, where the children are allowed interact with each other in both teacher-directed and
child-directed activities.
Our Staff is comprised of experienced teachers, who are seasoned in early childhood education. We believe that no child is too young to
learn. As such, we give our care, attention and encouragement without reservation to each child, regardless of age or developmental stage.
Our results thus far have been exceptional. At graduation, all of our graduates are fully prepared to enter kindergarden,
and 95% of these can perfom basic skills at advanced levels.

Our History
In an effort to assist working parents, Cana Moravian Church established an outreach programmed on October 2nd 1989.
The reality was the formation of the Preschool with one teacher Yvette Francis and 12 students Sis Joan Southwell joined staff from the second week.
This outreach effort grew and developed into a beautiful institution where children are involved in activities that allow them to discover, experiment and explore ways of putting objects and materials together in their own way, to learn more about themselves and the world around them.
The highest number of students recorded at any one time was 86. Most of our former students are now attending Secondary schools. Some have gained passes in the top 60 position.
Our first Graduation ceremony was held on July 3rd, 1990, and little Jessica Sealy was our First Valedictorian. Others coming down through the years in order were: Shameka Christopher, Jamie Herbert, Sherese Shepherd, Tudi Boasman, Chevez Watkins, Javid Smith, Ashley David, Orlyn Haywood, Yannie Frederick, Tamara Frederick, Khalief Beazer, Beniah Spencer and now in 2003 a tie between Janae Huggins and Tiquan John. To date about 400 graduated from this institution.
In 1994 the school celebrated its fifth anniversary with a week of activities which included church service and a parent child/pageant.
The pageant was held for the next three years, but was discontinued due to lack of parent co-operation, but was held once more when we celebrated our tenth anniversary in 1999.
Through the hardworking efforts of teachers and some parents, with assistance from a few business places, we were able to transform the physical appearance of the school tremendously. Benches were changed for chairs: an empty yard became yard became dotted with beautiful playground equipment and a number of educational toys were purchased. We continue to raise funds to repair and replace these equipment as time goes by.
The important strides made by the school over the years are due to the hard work and commitment of all who served faithfully. These include the past and present School Board members and past and present members of staff. Former Board members were:- Br. Eversleigh Warner - chairperson, Br. Steadroy Lewis, Rev. Glenvil Gregory, Sis Ruth Limerick, Sis Audrey Gregory, Bishop Neville Brown and Rev. Ezra Parris.
The current Board consists of :- Sis Ruth Limerick - chairperson, Br. Carrol Francis, Br. Vaulton Mack, Sis Yvette Francis and Rev. Adrian Smith.
Teachers past and present:- Yvette Francis - Supervisor, Joan Southwell - Deputy, Stacey Herbert, Pauline Charles-Benta, Sherilyn Watkins, Darnaly Herbert, Jasmin Cornwall, Mario Thomas, Rosilind Williams, Lana Harrigan and Ann Foster Warner.
Past janitors were:- Eleanor Warner and Fernella Limerick.
Our motto continues to be "Learning to work, play and pray together, "for it is a Pre-School that our children get that official start on the road to a lifetime of learning experiences.
We do hope and pray that the good seed which has been sown in those who are passing through our doors will burst forth, flourish, blossom and being forth fruits of sound mind, good morals and excellent character.
